How much does it cost to error-proof a factory?

Flexible Manufacturing Execution System (MES) pricing for factories of all sizes

Most manufacturers looking at MES pricing are trying to understand how much it will cost to actually error-proof their factory. We break down each pricing tier so you can see exactly what level of error-proofing, operator guidance, and traceability is in each tier. Whether you’re starting with one workstation or scaling across the factory floor, the goal is to help you compare options clearly and choose the right level of protection against mistakes, rework, and quality escapes. For a deeper technical overview of PICO's architecture, see our technical system guide.

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) pricing & error-proofing FAQs

PICO's free plan lets you create and run real digital work instructions with required steps and basic validations. It helps teams standardize work and begin error-proofing manual processes before adding advanced poka-yoke capabilities. Keep in mind that PICO's free plan is a cloud instance. Users need to upgrade to the Essential tier for an on-premise deployment.

Yes. The free plan includes access to PICO’s digital work instruction builder, including step-by-step guidance, images, and required acknowledgements that help prevent skipped steps and assembly errors.

The free plan is intended for evaluation and small-scale use. PICO's free digital work instructions is limited to 3 Manager/Admin licenses and 10 Operator/Supervisor licenses per site.

The free plan does not expire. It does have limits on historical data retention and advanced features, allowing teams to test error-proofing workflows without a time-based trial.
PICO's premium pricing plans are primarily structured around users or sites, depending on the plan. You can scale stations with unlimited IOT tool connections, allowing factories to expand error-proofing without constantly reworking licensing.
PICO's premium pricing plans support cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployments. This flexibility allows manufacturers to meet IT, security, and compliance requirements without sacrificing functionality.

A site refers to a single physical factory location. Site-based pricing allows teams to deploy PICO broadly across a facility without managing a per-station fee.

You will need to purchase an Intel NUC server for a one-time cost of $495 and PICO Hub(s) at $75/Hub so you can connect to your local network and start connecting shop floor tools at your workstations. Check out this page to learn more about getting set up.

Pricing for the Professional plan includes $100 per connected station per month in addition to $100 per user per month, up to $1000 per site per month.

Your work instructions and build data remain yours. Access, retention, and export options depend on your plan, but PICO does not take ownership of your production data.

Check out our onboarding training videos to learn the basics of setting up a product workflow, creating work instructions, adding actions, and deploying through change control.

In PICO, Admin users can navigate to Settings>Manage Users to add 2 additional Admins and up to 10 Operators. Yes, you can export build data in both Basic and premium plans. To do this, select your process and navigate to the Data tab. In the far right corner, select 'Download CSV'. Build summary PDFs are available for download only in premium plans.

Please send all your support requests to help@picomes.com. Email support is available for each plan, while support via Slack or MS Teams is available as an optional add-on to Essential and Professional plans.
